This recipe is an example of traditional German Altbier, with a brown-coppery color, pronounced bitterness balanced with strong malty flavor with a nice touch of caramel notes.

Altbier is especially associated with the city of Dusseldorf. Alts are a bit difficult to explain to the uninitiated - kind of like a hoppy Oktoberfest? A very malty pale ale? You'll just have to try a glass of coppery-brown, rich, caramelly, and bitter ale to get the idea. 

IBU: 32  ABV: 5.0%  OG:  1.049  FG: 1.011

4.44Kg - German Pilsner Malt  (All Grain Option)
450g - Munich Malt
120g - Medium Crystal Malt
70g - Eclipse Wheat Malt
60g - Light Chocolate

24g Pacific Jade Hops for bittering are pre-measured and vac packed in a foil bag to make your brew day easier.

Yeast: Saflager S-23 - check the option you will need 1 pack if fermenting at room temperature (18-21C) or 2 packs for Temperature Controlled Fermentation (11-15C).
